I know if we bring anyone up from our minors roster they can never go back to that roster and you either need to keep them or drop them.
What if we have an injury on our pro roster? We would have to pick someone up from the general pool of people who haven't had enough value to be picked up.
So, would a new rule that allows us to call up just for injurys be desireable? It would only allow that minor roster position to be temporarily vacated why your player on the pros is on the DL. As soon as he comes off the DL that player would have to return to your minors roster.
I know most of our minors rosters will be players who aren't playing (athough this will change obviously as time goes by) but say you have a top notch 3b like arod and he gets himself on the 15 day DL. Lets say you have a hot bat with 3b availability on your minors roster. You wouldn't want to bring him up for the short period of time because as soon as arod gets off the DL he is going back in your lineup. But would be like a punch in the stomach if your prospect had a great 15 days while you had to pick up some scrub who didn't do anything for you in those two weeks.
Thats how they would do it in the majors and this is fantasy baseball, so why not?
There could be a lot of variations or specifics to this rule of course but does anyone like the general idea? Anyone hate it?

I don't like the idea. Technically, I could have Casey Blake injured (someone who will be on my bench primarily throughout the season) and then I could bring up one of my stud minor leaguers just because someone on my roster is on the dl. What happens when someone is on the 60 day DL or out for the season? We should stick to how it was originally set up. There will always be guys in the FA pool that will be having decent enough seasons or be hot for a period of time that will be worth picking up.

Sounds like you are against the specifics of the rule. It is a really general rule. We could always say, only for a 15 day max. Or, maybe better yet, you can only do an injury call up if the player you are replacing is on the "can not drop" list. There are a lot of specifics we can fill in.
I think we can figure out specifics so that it isn't something that is abused, but my question is about the general idea, you are against bringing up someone out of your own organization to replace a temporarly injured player instead of someone in the unclaimed pool?

Yes I am. Personally, I would rather have the proven veteran or the guy that is on a hot streak rather than the unproven rookie. If I feel that a rookie is proven, then I will bring him up to my pro roster for good.
On the back end, if this were to happen it would become a lot more work for me. I would have to police everyone's DL times and look at everyone's roster and make sure no one is abusing the rule. Say you were to have someone on the DL and you bring up a rookie and 15 days later that guy is off the DL, I then would have to keep track of that and notify you to send down your minor leaguer. And if I "can't get ahold of you" or you go on vacation, then you could possibly have a couple of days extra with that minor leaguer which would be against the rules and not fair to your opponent.
I am never opposed to new ideas. But I set up this league to where it can be as fair as possible to everyone and also be systematically simple so I wouldn't have to spend too much time policing everything. I think it would just be better if we kept it like it is.
